Week-11-2018 - Post-Season

State QuarterFinals - Kansas 6-4A

6A-EAST
1 GET (10-0) vs. BVN (7-3) @ GET - Series tied 4-4
* While the Trailblazers have swapped league affiliations, these two have matched up ever since the start of the 2010 season.

The Trailblazer started out hot against the Mustangs early on in their EKL tenure with a strong 4-0 start from 2010 to 2013 going 4-0. From 2014 on, the Mustangs have had the Trailblazers numbers the last four seasons. Those Trailblazers in the last four years have given up an average of 36 PPG, struggling to find their defense ground in which they now have a solid foundation. Scoring did not bare well for them either averaging just over a Touchdown per game.

Can the Trailblazers end their streak of four losses to the reigning 6A State Football Champions? That will be determined all in good time after kickoff!

2 SME (8-2) vs. ONE (8-2) @ SMN - ONE leads the series 17-7
* While it is no secret to any one who follows the Sunflower League Football schools, these two are fun to watch when they meet at ODAC or at SMN in recent seasons.

That said, since the 2012 season, the Eagles and Lancers have met in three, now four playoff games all fittingly destroying playoff brackets of the past. The Lancers are 7-3 in the last 10 games against the Eagles. In 2015, we all saw the Eagles steal a win at ODAC with a dominant 44-30 win.

This game will come down to the final minutes, with both programs looking to eat clock, and score on every given possession.

6A-WEST
2 LFS (10-0) vs. MAN (9-1) @ LFS - LFS leads the series 2-0
* While it has been a few years back, the Firebirds and Indians have met.

Looking back in to the archives, the 2014, and 15 seasons of District play. In those two meetings, the Indians have averaged 14 PF, while giving up an average of 32 PA to a strong Firebirds offense.

Manhattan will need to make some early stops on defense to keep those Firebirds from scoring. The Indians led by Joe Schartz are very talented will have a lot on their plate from the first kick.

5A-EAST
1 STA (9-0) vs. 4 MVJ (7-3) @ STA - STA leads the series 7-4
* Since 2010, the Saints and Jaguars are no strangers to each other. In recent seasons, the Jaguars have an impressive 4-3 record against the Saints since the 2014 season.

This match up will also mark the third time that these two have met in post-season play, with the Saints coming away with the win both times in 15 and 16 deep in to week-12.

Coach Joel Applebee has Randy Dreiling's number when it comes to defeats in northeast Johnson County, as many other coaches in the western side of the state had a near impossibly time attempting to defeat Coach Dreiling and his SaltHawks.

2 De Soto (8-2) vs. 11 OWO (4-6) @ De Soto - First meeting
* The young Olathe West Owls, are taking on a strong, and very talented De Soto Wildcats Football team.

The Owls will have a lot on their plate as the Wildcats bring a lot of post-season experience to the field of play the Owls will be looking to take advantage of. Should the Owls get the chance to score early, they can steal one away from De Soto.

4A-EAST
5 BMS (8-2) vs. Louisburg (10-0) @ Louisburg - BMS leads the series 4-1
* Bishop Miege will find themselves on the road taking on the Wildcats of Louisburg, KS.

While these two have previously met in the 14-15-16 seasons, a different look Wildcats will be taking a shot under second year Head Coach Robert Ebenstein.

It will take a lot of work for the Wildcats to get points on the board as the Stags will come out early and firing. Most of that firepower offensively has since graduated, but the playoff experience of the Stags can be a huge benefit on the road and using the term "upset" it could play out to be. The Wildcats do have a chance to stop Bishop Miege, but we will see what happens on Friday night.
