Sunflower League Opponent:

Olathe North Fighting Eagles

Summary:

Talk about a monster. The Blue Springs South Jaguars are similar in many ways to the Olathe North Eagles, their Week 4 (3 for Kansas) opponent for 2016.The Jaguars endured growing pains with 5-6 and 6-5 records before blowing through every team in their path on the road to a state championship and undefeated season. Olathe North experienced the same situation by improving each season from a dismal 3-7 record in 2012 to three consecutive sub-state births.

Another similarity is the immense loss of talent to graduation. The Jaguars offense rode on the backs of SR QB Noah Nigro (1772 yds., 27 TD's, 6 INT's) and SR RB Adam Cofield (1373 yds., 16 TD's) for the entire season and will now be losing them along with their top three wide receivers.

All is not lost though, while the top three rushers will be leaving, future SR RB Jerome Hawkins

(419 yds., 9 TD's) showed a knack for scoring and should fit nicely into the role vacated by Cofield. Even if the spot at QB isn't filled with experience (Players behind Nigro totaled 16 attempts combined), it would be surprising to see the offense completely stagnate.

The defense will be missing almost all of its pass rush, but SS Cale Connors returns after stepping up as the team's ball hawk with 8 interceptions. With Olathe North trying to install a new QB without the proven skill seen in Matt Wright, passing might not be an option against this secondary.
